Jake Oaklyn, LCSW, joined the La Europa team, bringing a comprehensive background in mental health and human services. His career began with volunteer work in community organizations and schools, where he engaged with a wide range of populations, including disabled individuals and students. These early roles solidified his commitment to making a meaningful impact on both individual lives and systemic change.

Jake holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science with a focus on Psychology and a master’s degree in social work. During his graduate studies, he gained valuable experience through internships that allowed him to work extensively with young adults on issues related to mental health and independence, support older adults through significant life transitions, and assist LGBTQ+ individuals and families in building community connections and addressing their unique needs.

Professionally, Jake has worked with domestic violence survivors and individuals struggling with addiction. His experience includes providing individual and group therapy and developing treatment plans. His therapeutic approach is known for its balance of hands-on involvement and a relaxed demeanor, using humor, empathy, and positivity to foster strong rapport and trust with clients and their families.

Jake's expertise extends to a wide array of mental health challenges, including depression, self-harming behaviors, suicidality, anxiety, PTSD, trauma (particularly related to sexual abuse and domestic violence), autism, substance use addictions, ADHD, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, and attachment issues. His ability to address these diverse issues is a testament to his extensive experience and compassionate approach.

Jake's interests include performing (he is frequently in local productions, and is a recording artist as well), gaming, reading, cooking, and hanging out with his whip-smart husband and three adorable cats.
