After a successful career as an advertising copywriter and producer, followed by a fulfilling stint as a stay-at-home dad, Darrell transitioned to full-time teaching, driven by a long-held passion for inspiring students and helping them reach their academic potential. His goal is to encourage students to engage actively in their education, nurture their intellectual growth, and prepare for success in life beyond the classroom.
Darrell holds a degree from Brigham Young University and began his teaching journey as a teacher's aide and long-term volunteer in special education classrooms at the elementary level. During this time, he tutored students with diverse learning needs, gaining invaluable experience in meeting each student where they are and tailoring their academic support to help them thrive. Darrell witnessed firsthand how dedication and hard work can lead to impressive growth and progress, a philosophy he continues to embrace in his own teaching.
Understanding that math, like any subject, can come easier to some than others, Darrell maintains high expectations for all students. While students are expected to complete assignments, prepare for tests, and demonstrate mastery of math concepts, they are also encouraged to participate in class, show improvement, and build their overall academic skills. Darrell plays a key role in the academic department, helping to ensure that students feel both challenged and motivated as they work toward their educational goals.
Outside the classroom, Darrell enjoys attending sports events, watching films, traveling, and dining out with his wife, three children, and extended family and friends.
